3mm Insulin Needle Debuts at CIIE

With a needle length of only 3mm and a diameter of 0.18mm, Terumo's insulin injection needle "NANOPASS Jr." became one of the hottest products in the medical zone of the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE). NANOPASS Jr. is called the world's shortest and thinnest insulin injection needle; its tip uses a willow-leaf blade design that improves injection safety and patient tolerance while greatly reducing pain, helping diabetic patients relieve discomfort during self-injection and reducing fear.

Terumo Chairman Mikihito Mimura said some diabetic patients inject insulin multiple times a day, especially Type 1 patients who are often children and resist injection pain. NANOPASS Jr. significantly reduces pain — "like a mosquito bite" — improving compliance, especially for children, and helping them manage blood sugar.
